Pentagon to Review Senator Mark Kelly’s Comments on US Weapon Stockpiles Hegseth Questions Kelly’s Statements on Military Munitions US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered a Pentagon review after Democratic Senator Mark Kelly spoke publicly about America’s military weapon stockpiles during a television interview. The issue has sparked a political clash over national security, classified information, and military readiness. During an interview on CBS News’ Face The Nation, Kelly expressed concern about the condition of US munitions reserves following the recent conflict with Iran. He said he was surprised by how much the US had reduced its military stockpiles during the war effort. Kelly referred to a Pentagon briefing that discussed specific munitions and replenishment timelines. His comments quickly drew criticism from Hegseth, who accused the senator of publicly discussing sensitive military information. Pentagon Asked to Review Possible Disclosure In a post on X, Hegseth questioned whether Kelly had violated his oath by revealing details from a Pentagon briefing. He criticized the senator for discussing the matter on national television and called for an official review of the comments. Kelly strongly rejected the accusation. He responded by saying the information was already discussed publicly during a Senate hearing held the previous week. The Arizona senator also shared a video clip from the hearing, pointing out that Hegseth himself had acknowledged it could take years to rebuild certain US weapon stockpiles. Kelly argued that his comments did not expose classified material. He added that the American public deserves transparency about the cost of military operations and the long term impact on US defense readiness. Legal Dispute Between Kelly and Pentagon Continues The latest controversy comes as tensions continue between Kelly and the Pentagon leadership. Earlier this year, Kelly filed a lawsuit against the government after Hegseth allegedly attempted to demote him for criticizing the Trump administration. The legal battle began after Kelly and five other lawmakers released a video in November encouraging US service members to refuse unlawful military orders. Pentagon officials later challenged the lawmakers’ actions, leading to a broader political and legal dispute. In February, a federal judge temporarily blocked the Pentagon from carrying out the proposed demotion while the lawsuit moved forward. However, the Pentagon appealed the ruling. Recently, a federal appeals court appeared likely to reject the Pentagon’s effort to punish Kelly over his remarks to service members. If the court rules against the Pentagon, it would mark another setback for the Trump administration in its ongoing dispute with the senator. Debate Over National Security and Transparency The disagreement has fueled debate in Washington over how much information elected officials should share about military preparedness. Supporters of Kelly say lawmakers have a responsibility to discuss defense concerns openly, especially when military operations affect national resources. Critics, however, argue that public discussions involving weapons inventories and defense capabilities could risk exposing sensitive national security information. The Pentagon has not confirmed whether a formal investigation has officially started. Officials have only referred back to Hegseth’s public statements regarding the matter.

The Fátima Prophecies and the “Miracle of the Sun” That Shaped Cold War Beliefs Three Children Claimed They Saw a Divine Vision in Portugal In May 1917, three young shepherd children from Fátima, Portugal, claimed they witnessed an apparition of the Virgin Mary while tending sheep in a field. The children, Lucia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marta, said the glowing figure appeared near an oak tree and instructed them to return on the 13th day of each month for the next five months. Their story quickly spread across Portugal and attracted thousands of believers. Over time, the reported visions became one of the most discussed religious events of the 20th century. Many people believed the messages contained warnings about war, faith, and the future of Russia under communism. The “Miracle of the Sun” Drew Thousands of Witnesses On 13 October 1917, a massive crowd gathered in Fátima to witness the final predicted appearance. Many people later claimed they saw extraordinary events in the sky. Witnesses described the Sun changing colors, spinning rapidly, and moving like a wheel of fire. Some also reported seeing flower-like shapes falling from the sky. Others believed people with illnesses were suddenly healed during the event. One witness recalled that the Sun appeared to spin faster and faster before returning to its normal position. While many people considered it a miracle, others suggested it may have been a natural atmospheric event or a case of mass psychological influence. Despite the debate, the event left a strong emotional impact on those who attended. Fear, faith, and wonder spread through the crowd as people tried to understand what they had seen. The Three Secrets of Fátima The children claimed they received three important revelations during the apparitions. These became known as the “Three Secrets of Fátima.” The first secret reportedly included a vision of Hell and warnings about future suffering and war. Many believers later connected it to the outbreak of World War II. The second prophecy focused on Russia. According to the message, devotion and prayer could eventually save Russia from communism. Because the message emerged shortly before the Russian Revolution, it later gained major attention during the Cold War. The third secret remained hidden inside the Vatican archives for decades. Its secrecy created worldwide speculation and increased global interest in Fátima. Many people believed it predicted major political and religious events of the 20th century. How Fátima Became Linked to Anti Communist Beliefs As communism spread across Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union grew stronger, the Fátima prophecies became closely tied to anti communist movements. Religious groups viewed the messages as spiritual warnings against atheism and Soviet ideology. Although the Catholic Church initially reacted cautiously to the reports, it officially approved devotion connected to Fátima in 1930. From that point forward, the site became one of the world’s most visited religious pilgrimage destinations. Today, the story of Fátima continues to spark debate between believers, historians, and scientists. Some see it as a powerful spiritual event, while others view it as a historical mystery shaped by faith and human emotion.

Third British National Suspected of Hantavirus on MV Hondius Cruise as Cases Rise Outbreak Overview on MV Hondius Health officials are monitoring a hantavirus outbreak linked to the cruise ship MV Hondius. A third British national is now suspected to have the infection. The case involves a passenger currently on the remote Atlantic island of Tristan da Cunha after the ship made a stop there in mid April. Two other British men already have confirmed infections. One patient remains in a stable condition in the Netherlands after evacuation from the ship. The second patient is in intensive care in South Africa following an earlier medical transfer. One passenger has died, and the total number of confirmed cases has reached five. Confirmed and Suspected Cases Authorities confirmed that the suspected third British case is under observation and has not yet been fully diagnosed. Two additional British nationals are self isolating at home in the United Kingdom. They show no symptoms and are isolating voluntarily after possible exposure. A group of 30 passengers from around a dozen countries disembarked earlier at St Helena on 24 April. Seven of them were British citizens. Four British passengers who left the ship remain on St Helena and continue to show no symptoms while staying in contact with health teams. Evacuation and Medical Response Medical teams evacuated three patients from the ship earlier in the week. Martin Anstee, a 56 year old retired police officer and expedition guide, was flown to the Netherlands along with a 41 year old Dutch crew member and a 65 year old German passenger. He is currently in stable condition and reports that he feels well. Health authorities plan to send medical support to remote island locations where exposed passengers are being monitored. Teams are focusing on early detection and containment to prevent further spread. Passenger Monitoring and Isolation Measures Passengers who remain on board the MV Hondius will be flown back to the United Kingdom via a chartered aircraft once the ship reaches the Canary Islands. Officials confirmed that all returning passengers will need to isolate after arrival, even if they show no symptoms. Health monitoring continues for all exposed individuals across multiple locations, including Europe, Africa, and remote Atlantic islands. Operator Response and Contact Tracing The cruise operator Oceanwide Expeditions stated that the first confirmed infection was reported on 4 May. The company also confirmed that all passengers who had disembarked were contacted and informed about potential exposure risks.

Hantavirus Outbreak Reported on Atlantic Cruise Ship Incident Overview Health authorities have reported a serious hantavirus situation on a cruise ship sailing across the Atlantic Ocean. The vessel, MV Hondius operated by Oceanwide Expeditions, was traveling from Argentina toward Cape Verde when multiple passengers fell ill. Three people have died during the incident. A Dutch married couple and a German passenger were among the deceased. Officials have confirmed two hantavirus cases so far, including a Dutch woman who later died after leaving the ship. Investigations continue to determine the exact cause of the remaining deaths. Two crew members also developed breathing related symptoms while on board. One showed mild illness and the other required urgent medical attention. What Is Hantavirus Hantavirus refers to a group of viruses carried mainly by rodents. Humans usually become infected when they breathe in particles contaminated with rodent urine, droppings, or saliva. This virus does not typically spread from person to person. Infection usually happens in environments where rodent activity is present and contaminated dust becomes airborne. People may also get infected through rodent bites or scratches, but this is less common. How the Virus Spreads The main transmission route involves inhalation of infected particles in the air. When dried rodent waste is disturbed, it can release virus particles into the environment. Risk increases in enclosed or poorly cleaned areas where rodents live or have lived. Travel environments, storage areas, or remote locations can increase exposure risk if rodent control is weak. Symptoms and Health Risks Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome This form affects the lungs. Early signs include fever, fatigue, and muscle pain. As the illness progresses, patients may experience headaches, dizziness, chills, and stomach discomfort. Breathing problems can develop suddenly. In severe cases, the condition becomes life threatening. Health data shows a high death rate once respiratory symptoms begin. Hemorrhagic Fever with Kidney Complications This form affects the kidneys and blood vessels. Symptoms may include low blood pressure, bleeding inside the body, and kidney failure. It can become severe without fast medical care. Current Cases Under Investigation A 69 year old British passenger is currently in intensive care in South Africa and has tested positive for hantavirus. The Dutch woman who died after leaving the ship also tested positive. Health officials are still testing crew members who showed respiratory symptoms. Results have not yet confirmed whether they are infected with the virus.

Met Gala Looks Inspired by Famous Artworks The Met Gala is known for turning fashion into a form of living art. Held every year on the first Monday of May, it celebrates the opening of the Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s theme, “Fashion is Art,” encouraged guests to express their personal connection between clothing and artistic expression. Celebrities arrived in bold, creative outfits that reflected famous artworks from history. Each look told a visual story shaped by painters, sculptors, and cultural symbols. Rosé Channels Georges Braque’s “The Birds” Rosé, member of Blackpink and a New Zealand born singer, wore a simple yet elegant black strapless gown designed by Saint Laurent under Anthony Vaccarello. The dress appeared minimal at first glance, but the inspiration behind it added depth and meaning. Her outfit took cues from Georges Braque’s artwork The Birds (1952–53). The design included a striking bird shaped brooch, which became the highlight of her look. This detail directly connected the outfit to Braque’s artistic style and symbolism. Rosé worked closely with stylist Law Roach, often called an “image architect,” to shape the final concept. Together, they studied Saint Laurent’s past collections, including designs from spring 1998 and spring 2002 couture. During this process, they discovered how Yves Saint Laurent frequently used bird motifs, which helped refine the final direction. She later shared that the look combined classic Saint Laurent elegance with artistic storytelling inspired by fashion history and fine art. How Art Shaped the Met Gala Theme The Met Gala theme encouraged designers and celebrities to treat fashion as more than clothing. Instead, outfits became interpretations of paintings, sculptures, and historical references. Each look aimed to reflect the human body as an artistic subject across different eras. From bold symbolism to subtle references, the red carpet became a space where art history and modern fashion blended together.

Katie Taylor will retire after her final fight in Dublin Katie Taylor, the Irish boxing icon has announced that she will be retiring later this year following one final fight in Dublin. The 39-year-old plans to end her career in Ireland and is hoping to fight at Croke park. Taylor Taylor hasn't fought in a fight since July last year when she beat Amanda Serrano during their three-round bout in New York. She wants to make her last appearance in front of Irish supporters. In a recent conversation, she stated: "I want to fight to finish my career in Dublin." Croke Park is still her top choice. She mentioned that if it doesn't work, the 3Arena or the Aviva Stadium could be venues. The Career that Changed Irish Sport Katie Taylor started boxing when she was 12 years old. In 2001, she made her debut as an amateur and rose quickly through the ranks. She pushed herself forward at a time in Ireland when female fighters had limited opportunities. At the age of 15, she competed in Ireland's first women-only bout. She won many amateur world titles before winning Olympic gold in London 2012. Taylor has continued to push boundaries in the world of professional wrestling. The four-belt era saw Taylor become the undisputed champion of two weight classes. Few fighters have ever achieved this feat, whether they are male or female. She was able to bring women's fighting into the spotlight through her rivalry with Amanda Serrano. The fights attracted large crowds, and they were covered extensively by major media outlets. This proved that women's fighting belongs in the most prestigious arenas. A Dream Goodbye at Croke Park Taylor has one final goal. Taylor wants to compete at Croke before retiring. Croke Park, the iconic Dublin stadium that has played host to some of Ireland’s most memorable sporting moments. In the past, costs have prevented this plan from being implemented. Taylor is still hopeful. The Irish would be able to see their most famous athlete in person if he were to fight his final bout at Croke park. She will look at other locations in Dublin if the event is not possible there. She plans to finish her career in Dublin, regardless of the venue. Legacy beyond Titles Taylor's influence goes far beyond medals and belts. Taylor helped change attitudes towards women's sport in Ireland. She was humble and often thanked the fighters that paved her way, such as her inspiration Deirdre Goguety. Taylor is one of the best boxers in her generation. She is considered by many to be one of the best athletes Ireland ever produced. She prepares to make one last walk around the ring this summer. She wants this moment to be Dublin's.

What Should England Do About Jos Buttler? England face a big selection call ahead of the World Cup semi final. The main question is clear. What should they do about Jos Buttler? Buttler has struggled at the top of the order in recent matches. That dip in form has raised doubts about his role. Still, few doubt his class or his record in white ball cricket. Move Buttler Down the Order? One option is to move Buttler into the middle order. This could ease the pressure to attack from ball one. In one day cricket, he often plays as a finisher and handles that role well. In T20s, he has batted at five and six 45 times for England. However, he has not done that regularly since 2018. A shift now would require another player to open the innings. Tom Banton and Will Jacks are natural openers. Banton returned to the squad to strengthen the middle order, especially against spin. Jacks has impressed as a finisher in this tournament. He has scored 159 runs from just 90 balls. Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell have also opened in the IPL. Brook recently smashed a brilliant century at number three. Bethell, on the other hand, does not always start quickly. Swapping Brook and Buttler is possible, but it may disturb a settled position. Another factor is Buttler’s partnership with Phil Salt. Before the tournament, many saw that opening pair as one of England’s biggest strengths. Breaking it up would be a bold step. Should England Drop Him? Dropping Buttler looks unlikely. He signed a new two year central contract last year. He has been a key part of England’s white ball teams for more than a decade. Leaving him out of a World Cup semi final would be a massive call. The match could take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Buttler has an excellent IPL record at that ground. He has scored 94 not out, 89 and 116 there. Ben Duckett is the spare batter in the squad. He is also short of form. This winter, he has averaged just 18.88 across 12 matches in all formats. He even fell for a first ball duck in his most recent innings. England could also turn to Rehan Ahmed, a leg spinning all rounder. That would be a surprise move and a clear gamble. A Final Chance to Respond England’s next match against New Zealand offers a low pressure chance. They have already qualified, so the result will not change their position. This game could help Buttler find rhythm before the semi final. Former England spinner Alex Hartley backed him strongly. She said anyone writing Buttler off needs to think again. According to her, one clean shot could change everything. She believes he will deliver when it matters most. England now face a tough decision. Stick with their proven match winner, or make a bold change at the top?

UEFA rejects Benfica appeal as Prestianni set to miss Real Madrid clash UEFA rejected Benfica’s appeal of the provisional suspension against Argentine winger Gianluca Prestianni. Prestianni, 20, will miss Benfica’s second-leg Champions League play off match against Real Madrid. This ban is the result of allegations made by Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior during their 1 to 0 win in last week’s first leg. Prestianni was suspended UEFA issued a provisional one-match ban to Prestianni after Vinicius Jr claimed that he used discriminatory language in the Lisbon match. According to the governing body, there were enough preliminary evidences for a prima-facie case. The officials were able to temporarily suspend the case while they conducted a thorough investigation. Benfica appealed the decision. The club did admit that, even if it went ahead, there was little chance of the decision affecting Wednesday's game in Madrid. Benfica’s Appeal is Rejected UEFA’s Appeals Body examined Benfica’s request, but rejected it. Prestianni is therefore suspended from the next European match. In the hope that the ruling would be changed, he trained at the Real Madrid stadium with his squad on Tuesday. The decision was not changed. The suspension is only temporary. The UEFA ethics and disciplinary inspection will complete a thorough review. Further sanctions may be imposed based on the results. Benfica: What this means Prestianni could have played while the investigation continued if UEFA hadn't imposed the temporary ban. Benfica will have to prepare without their young winger for the crucial Champions League match. Portuguese team is under even greater pressure as they trail Real Madrid 1 to 0 in the aggregate. UEFA is yet to announce a date for the ruling. Prestianni is still suspended until then and his immediate future in Europe remains unclear.
