Former Disney CEO Bob Iger and Josh Kushner, the brother of US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared, are purchasing the majority stake in one of the most recognizable sports clubs in the world. LA Lakers Set for Record $12.5bn Sale to Kushner and Iger In a deal that was unanimously authorized by the NBA Board of Governors in October 2025. Walter purchased his stake from the Buss family for an estimated $10 billion (£7.45 billion), setting a previous record. Kushner and Iger said: “As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world. “We greatly admire the vision and leadership of Jerry and Jeanie Buss. How Mark Walter Became Lakers Owner “Our long-term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level, and serve this extraordinary team, its fans, and the city of Los Angeles.” In 1979, Jerry Buss purchased the Lakers for $67.5 million (£50 million), which also included the Los Angeles Kings hockey franchise and the Kia Forum, a Los Angeles arena. Before a contract was finalized with Walter, who also holds a part in the LA Dodgers alongside Todd Boehly, ownership was transferred to his six children in a trust upon his death in 2013. Lakers Have 17 NBA Championships “One of the greatest honors of my life has been owning the Los Angeles Lakers,” Walter remarked. The community, the supporters, and a city that views this team as family are what I will take with me, even if it has been an incredible investment. I appreciate being welcomed into this chapter by Jeanie Buss, the Buss family, the players, and the staff. Los Angeles owns the Lakers, and I’m confident that the greatest is still to come.” The LA Lakers have won 17 NBA titles, one fewer than the Boston Celtics’ record of 18. Kushner’s involvement in the recent scandal regarding Fifa head Gianni Infantino and an abandoned plan before the sale. How the Buss Family Owned the Lakers I am appreciative to Jeanie Buss, the Buss family, the players, and the staff for allowing me to be a part of this chapter. US Hotels Fear Weak World Cup Tourism as Bookings Fall Short Tourism expectations fail to match reality US hotels are worried the upcoming World Cup will not deliver the expected tourism boost. Many host cities are reporting lower-than-expected bookings, raising doubts about the event’s economic impact. A report from the American Hotel & Lodging Association shows demand is falling behind forecasts across most locations. The group represents more than 32,000 hotel properties and a large share of franchised hotels in the United States. Conflict between booking data and ticket sales The association says hotel demand does not match FIFA’s claim that over five million tickets have already been sold. It warns that the expected financial gains from the tournament could be lower than projected. Accusations over hotel room block bookings The report also criticizes FIFA for reserving large numbers of hotel rooms in advance. According to the association, this created artificial demand and pushed prices higher in early stages of booking. Later, FIFA cancelled a significant portion of those reservations. Hotel operators say this left gaps in availability and disrupted normal pricing patterns. FIFA has rejected these claims and does not agree with the criticism. Other factors behind weak demand Hotels say several issues are discouraging visitors. High ticket prices for matches are one concern. Expensive local transport and taxes are also adding pressure. Some operators also point to political tensions as another reason international travel interest has slowed. Economic outlook remains uncertain With lower bookings and mixed signals from ticket sales, the hospitality sector is now unsure about the World Cup’s overall economic benefit. Many hotels are preparing for weaker-than-expected revenue during the tournament period.

Later on, he became aggressive; according to Panettiere, he would smack her head against the wall and once battered her face so severely that she was unable to leave her home for weeks. In her 36 years, she faced more challenges than most, and she tried to deal with them by writing her book, which was released in May. She concluded by assuring readers that she had learned to "walk hand in hand with my triumphs and my tragedies, because they have made me who I am" and that she had come to terms with her past while maintaining optimism for the future.

Iran Considers New US Proposal Amid Rising Diplomatic Efforts

Iran is currently reviewing a new proposal from the United States that could help reduce tensions and restart nuclear negotiations. US President Donald Trump said the ongoing conflict may end “quickly” and claimed that many people support Washington’s efforts to stop Iran from advancing its nuclear programme.

Reports suggest the White House is working on a 14 point memorandum of understanding with Iran. The proposed framework could open the door for detailed negotiations between both countries in the coming weeks.

According to sources familiar with the discussions, the agreement may include limits on Iran’s nuclear enrichment activities, the easing of economic sanctions, and the restoration of free trade routes through the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway is one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.

Iran Responds Carefully to the Proposal

Iranian officials have not fully accepted the proposal yet. A senior member of Iran’s parliament described the reported agreement as a “wish list” rather than a finalized deal. Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that Tehran plans to share its response through Pakistani mediators.

Pakistan has continued diplomatic efforts to help both sides move toward peace. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister stated that the country is trying to turn the current ceasefire into a permanent end to the conflict.

Diplomatic observers believe Pakistan’s involvement could play an important role in reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran. The country has maintained communication with both sides during recent regional instability.

Trump Says Goal Is to End Nuclear Threat

President Trump stressed that the main goal of the United States is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. He said most people understand the importance of stopping further escalation in the region.

The reported memorandum is said to contain 14 points, although several conditions would only take effect after a final agreement is reached. Sources claim many parts of the proposal remain under discussion and could still change during negotiations.

The latest talks come at a time of growing concern over Middle East security and global energy stability. Analysts say any agreement between the US and Iran could have a major impact on international oil markets and regional diplomacy.

Possible Impact on Global Stability

If both countries move forward with negotiations, the agreement could lower tensions across the Middle East and improve economic conditions linked to global trade and oil exports.

However, challenges remain. Political divisions inside Iran and concerns from international allies may slow progress toward a final deal. Even so, diplomatic communication between both sides appears to be continuing.

Experts believe the coming weeks will be critical in determining whether the proposed framework can lead to a long term agreement or if tensions will rise again.

Next Article The Tough Judge Leading the Elon Musk vs Sam Altman Court Battle The legal fight between Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has become one of the biggest courtroom battles in the tech world. While both billionaires continue their public clash over artificial intelligence, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has emerged as the powerful figure controlling the courtroom. Musk, one of the richest people in the world, filed a massive lawsuit against OpenAI. He claims the company moved away from its original nonprofit mission after launching a for profit structure. Musk co founded OpenAI in 2015 alongside Sam Altman and other tech leaders, but he left the company in 2018 after disagreements over its direction. Today, Musk argues that OpenAI leadership violated public trust and focused too heavily on profits. OpenAI strongly rejects those claims. The company says Musk is trying to slow down competitors while helping his own AI company, xAI, grow faster in the market. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers Takes Control Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers is leading the case in a California federal court. She is widely known for her strict courtroom style and strong control during major technology lawsuits. The experienced federal judge has handled several high profile Silicon Valley cases over the years. Legal experts say her confidence and courtroom discipline make her one of the most respected judges in the tech industry. During recent court proceedings, Musk attempted to challenge the questioning style used by OpenAI lawyer William Savitt. Musk argued that the lawyer was asking leading questions while questioning him on the stand. Judge Gonzalez Rogers immediately stopped Musk and clarified the legal process in court. She reminded him that the lawyer was legally allowed to ask those questions during cross examination. She also made it clear that Musk could not act as his own lawyer inside the courtroom. Her direct response quickly gained attention online and highlighted her firm approach during the trial. OpenAI and Musk Continue Their AI Dispute The lawsuit mainly focuses on OpenAI's decision to create a for profit business division in 2019. That move later helped the company launch ChatGPT, which transformed the global artificial intelligence industry. Musk believes OpenAI abandoned its original purpose of developing AI for the benefit of humanity. Meanwhile, OpenAI says the company still follows its mission while building advanced technology products. The courtroom battle now represents more than a personal feud between Musk and Altman. It also reflects growing concerns about power, money, and control in the rapidly expanding AI sector. Why This Trial Matters The Musk vs Altman case could shape future discussions about artificial intelligence companies and their responsibilities. The outcome may also influence how tech companies balance public benefit with commercial success. As the trial continues, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers remains the central authority in the courtroom. Her decisions could play a major role in determining the future direction of one of the most important AI disputes in modern tech history.
