The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to expand to eight teams in its 11th edition, with Faisalabad and Gilgit emerging as frontrunners for the two new franchises, insiders revealed. Other shortlisted cities include Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still in discussions with Multan Sultans over the renewal of their franchise for the next 10-year cycle. The 2021 champions are yet to receive the revised offer letter detailing the updated franchise fees.
PCB has already sent renewal offers to Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators after completing an independent valuation of all PSL franchises and commercial assets. Franchises have been given a set deadline to respond and are allowed to meet directly with the independent evaluators to review the methodology and clarify any concerns.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently announced the launch of the sale process for the two new franchises. Interested bidders must submit technical proposals by December 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with opening scheduled for 11:30 AM the same day. Only bidders meeting technical requirements will proceed further.
Naqvi emphasized that the expansion marks a new chapter for PSL. “The Pakistan Super League is about to get Bigger and Better! Time for two new dreams [PSL] to come true,” he said.
This move highlights PCB’s commitment to growing the league and creating more opportunities for cricket fans and investors across Pakistan.
