Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, vehemently refused to offer an apology on Thursday for her recent tirade against the PPP, a crucial coalition partner of the PML-N at the federal level.
The battle of words between the PPP and PML-N, which started over flood compensation through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), grew more intense after the Punjab chief minister rejected the PPP’s objection to the controversial canal project on the Indus River at a gathering in Faisalabad.
The Punjab administration has rejected the PPP’s argument that flood victims should receive relief through BISP.
In protest of the Punjab Chief Minister’s comments, PPP legislators left the Senate and National Assembly sessions on Tuesday.
